In a National Park mainly dominated by wide field landscapes, a telephoto view allows one to appreciate the intimate details by removing all distracting elements from a frame. Being able to witness a cloud inversion overlooking Yosemite Valley is a rare treat. Seeing the hypnotic low fog shift back and forth through the trees feels like the world is moving in slow motion.

I studied the fog all weekend hoping that my envisioned plan would come to fruition. Sitting at the famous Tunnel View, I patiently waited and watched the clouds slowly creep though the tree line. Just as it positioned itself in front of Bridalveil Fall it began to lift, partially obscuring the waterfall. In that short moment of bliss, the perfect conditions aligned with Bridalveil Fall falling into a mist cloud with just the tips of the trees poking out through the fog in the foreground. Not a moment after recording this photo, the entire inversion lifted off the valley floor and engulfed me in a white out completely altering the landscape.
