The Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon under fiery light, in its endless cadence of moving pieces of ice, teaches us lessons of impermanence and dissolution.

This place is quite simply the most beautiful work of moving art I've ever seen in my short life…

The landscapes in Iceland are not only majestic, but also extremely volatile. After being on so many unstable places, which would never look the same on a second visit, I found the king of pure Buddhist impermanence: the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and its endless floating delicate sculptures of ice, right in front of my eyes.

On this afternoon I had the honor of witnessing an epic, extremely rare and incredibly intense sunset in this location, with enough time to choose from the endless possible angles and compositions. Due to the fast-moving pieces of ice, doing a long exposure in this place would be impossible, as details would get lost and become blurred, so I had to act quick while choosing the composition.

Since the ice pieces were a few meters away from the shore and I wanted to get the classic immersive look of wide angle lenses, I had to enter into the almost frozen water to get really close to the ice and create this image.

From time to time, chunks of melted ice would meet my legs with great subtlety, making me feel like a part of the whole moving scenario. Unforgettable...
