Artist Anatoly Shuravlev. This work is a digital edition of my series Tattoo, 1996. I combined the classical Roman sculpture (portrait from a tombstone) with modern tattoos from tattoo workshops. Everything was done by hand without Photoshop. The work is combining classical cultural objects with a street subculture bringing it to the full circle as arabesque tattoos took its roots from the Roman civilization. Many tattooists and clients do not realize the origin of their new creations. The photograph was in many exhibitions. One of them was reproduced in a large size 200x140 and exhibited in a window at Alexsander Platz in Berlin. It was stolen on several occasions and had to be replaced.
