Morpho Mountain is the redone version of a physical ink drawing that I did in 2017 of the same tree and hand, but within blank black space. The current version’s goal is to illustrate the flow of traditional Japanese painting with a sort of psychedelic spin.
The title of Morpho Mountain is inspired by a merging of the titles from two songs “Magenta Mountain” and “Blue Morpho” by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. The tree comes from the cover art of the self-titled album by Twenty One pilots which I was listening to at the time of producing the original drawing; I just thought that the trees had a deep ethereal connection to the universe, that we could talk to them and they would listen just like some version of a god.
When you have no one to talk to, you can always talk to the trees.
