Living in the shadow of the Tetons comes with unpredictable weather. The force of nature appears in all seasons, but the transition times can be the most unpredictable. I captured this image after a violent wind and snow storm blew through the area. The snow was mostly on the mountains and provided a stunning look at the winter to come. What snow fell on the ground melted that morning. The clouds were so fast-moving and provided a unique landscape every few seconds as they drifted in front of the Tetons. The temperature the day before was in the 60s and sunny, and when I photographed this outbuilding on the Moulton homestead late the next morning, it was 28 degrees, windy and raining.

Living in the shadow of these majestic mountains means accepting unpredictable weather and harsh temperatures. The force of nature continues year after year, and those who wish to live among these giant peaks have to accept that it is part of the beauty that comes with being there.
