As a civilisation, we study our past and its cultures to better understand the present, to better understand our species. But it’s more difficult as individuals to study our own past as we do cultures — to fully comprehend our own individual myths we’ve built up, symbols we use, mistakes we’ve made, flaws and positive attributes etc.

Like any study, it’s hard and is always a work in progress, but coming closer in our comprehension of ourselves is a powerful tool and can see us acknowledge, accept and learn from the bad, whilst utilising the good.

Anthropology forms part of a trio of individual paintings that sit alongside each other contextually, Anthropology, Simpatico and Artefacts — the study of the past, present and future, and it’s hoped one day they will be displayed together somewhere.
