Some wronged people become Yōkai after their deaths to avenge everything that wronged them or to avenge themselves against the world in general. "Itsumade", this mythology bird is born from the spirits of human beings who dead from plague and starvation. the name of this yōkai came from its horrible cry of “Itsumade?” which means, “Until when?”in Japanese. The folktale of "Itsumade" portrayed as a message that the suffering of the dead due to the ignorance of their bodies and the importance of mourning the dead.

恨みを持った人の中には、自分を恨んだものすべてに復讐をする、あるいは 死者が生前に世間や社会で恨んだものに復讐をするために妖怪になる者がいる。 「以津真天」というこの妖鳥は、疫病や飢餓で死んだ人々の魂により生まれたものであり、名前は「いつまで」という恐ろしい鳴き声から由来している。 「以津真天」の民話は、自身の死体が放置されたまま死者が苦しんでいる様子と 死者を弔うことの大切さを伝えるメッセージとして描かれている。
