I've been to this celebration of colours a number of times and have seen this man, every time laughing with his friends and throwing colours. What I have understood is the system of age and how it relates to friendships. Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
Every year, a few days before the actual Holi celebration that happens across India - a small portion of Kolkata, celebrates this festival of colours on their own. But there's a striking difference, this celebration happens with thousands of people playing Holi, throwing colours at each other around a moving Rolls-Royce car, that has been there for more than half a century.
On the busiest and narrowest lanes of Burrabazar, Kolkata - a slice of history is remembered every year. It all starts from a simple temple, then a long walk on Howrah Bridge with Yellow Taxis and Rustic buses slamming their brakes, confused why thousands are marching, dancing, screaming in joy right in the middle of the day. The final hour is the trickiest, through the narrow lanes where usual cars would be afraid to enter, there's a Roll-Royce, with every building's every floor, having people throwing Gulal - in colours of pink, red, yellow and whatnot, turning this City of Joy into a Colourful Chaos.
