Most people that visit Tokyo rarely head outside of the more touristy areas. For me, I tend to avoid such areas and instead focus on exploring the paths less followed. I like to see how people live their everyday lives and find the "hole in the wall" restaurants and the paths people take daily for work. This helps me find all matter of photographs that differ from the everyday posts you see on Instagram that are all so similar.
This photograph really stuck out to me, as lanterns are something I associate with Japan. It is something I look for whenever I am out taking pictures, alongside bicycles and trains. Here, they are so subtle, but they stick out due to the contrast of their color. It is very pleasant for me.
