Lynn Nolan Ryan Jr. is one of the best pitchers of all-time and a retired Hall of Famer who played for the New York Mets 1966-1971, California Angels 1972-1979, Houston Astros 1980-1988 and Texas Rangers 1989-1993. He was a fierce competitor and one of baseball’s most intimidating figures on the pitching mound for four decades. His overpowering fastball and unparalleled longevity produced 324 victories and many Major League records including lifetime benchmark of 5,714 strikeouts, seven no-hitters, and twelve one-hitters over 27 seasons pitched. Ryan led the league in strikeouts 11-times and fanned more than 300 batters for six seasons including a record of 383 strikeouts in 1973. His career longevity and success in both leagues made Ryan a true American baseball and Hall of Fame legend who even in his last 4 seasons before retirement in his 40s only allowed .192 batting average against him.
