Pixeræboards are digital artworks informed by the artist’s own visual research, focusing on the importance of mosaic principles for digital aesthetics. Each composition is based on actual collage work and retain the opaque quality of the paper, contrasting with the digital light emitted by computer screens and monitors. They also allude to the organizational principles of motherboards.
This collection is informed by Marcelo de Melo's own artistic research on the epistemic complexity of mosaic making. The 'Pixeræboards' series explore the connection between tesserae and pixels, and the creation of abstractions through actual and virtual deployment of additive methods of composition such as mosaic, collage and digitization of elements.
