Today I want to tell you a beautiful legend about the origin of the Ridgeback - a breed with a crest on its back. It happened near the Limpopo River in Africa a long time ago. At that time there were taller and bigger giraffes in Africa, and everyone was afraid of them. Except for a red dog, who loved the baby giraffe and wanted to make friends with his family. But they drove her away. But one day disaster struck - an evil and sneaky lion kidnapped the baby giraffe. His parents couldn’t find the baby. Then a red dog came to their rescue and picked up the trail. The sniffer led the dog to the den of the predator. The red dog distracted the lion while the adult giraffes came running in to help. The giraffes trampled the predator. Tha baby was saved. The little giraffe walked up to the dog and licked his back. Wet wool stood up with a crest and stayed like that.
