"Homecourt" Background story from Anthony: In 2018, I photographed Dyckman Court during the 2nd Annual NY vs NY basketball tournament, which featured some of the best High School Basketball talent in the New York metro area. Rather than photographing the game on the ground, I wanted to create a more majestic appearance than the typical sporting event. I coordinated with park staff who helped me gain rooftop access of the projects building across the park, and I photographed the game from above.
With iconic and timeless imagery of some of America's most notable people under his belt, Anthony Geathers has cemented his vision as a prolific commercial, portrait & photojournalistic photographer. Born in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York, Geathers discovered photography in the seventh grade, and since then has focused his studies in mastering his craft.
Serving in the Marine Corps from 2008 to 2012, doing two combat deployments to Afghanistan as a machine gunner, Anthony has used his experience in the battlefield as a provoking statement, dictating the rhythm of his work. Anthony masterfully balances depicting the rawness of humanity with the essence of a powerful and uplifting spirit.
