The sun had set hours ago, and the hunting party was making their way through the darkness. Though they had killed the boar, the encounter with the man had set them back quite some time. Galli, leading the way now turned to find himself 50 feet ahead of the group, in the deep abyss of a sunless jungle. He had become lost in thought not realizing that the party had stopped and seemed to be arguing about something. The runes on the silver lion’s arm somehow seemed to have a faint luminance, and it dawned on Galli how superstitious his people could be. Gradually making his way back, he saw that the stranger seemed to be speaking and gradually putting the others at ease, when without warning his muscular form froze mid-sentence. The rising tension was tangible as he appeared to be listening closely to something around him. Without warning he twisted into a crouch and faced Galli, his eyes now ablaze with the same strange glow from the runes as he moved towards him. Galli’s heart jumped, his feet feeling rooted to the ground. There had been few times in his adult life he had felt true terror, but now as this man stalked towards him, he felt the visceral horror of an animal being hunted. His mind screamed for him to move, but his limbs would not listen. The man was almost upon him now, when suddenly he realized that he was looking through him.
