After I read the book "A thousand splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini, the story of these women kept popping in my head. I thought about the ending of this book, and the force and hopes behind those women and their need to rebuild for a better future. This piece came to me as a therapy of sorts, a direct result of the impact that book had on me.

She’s wearing her (physical or metaphorical) cover but you can see her rebellion. It’s in her colourful makeup, in her rainbow strands of hair that are discreetly escaping and most of all in the strength and determination in her eyes.
