Tethered by Martin X Underwood

In this piece, I wanted to use twins as my subject but also wanted to make their skin colors completely opposite, showing the blackest of blacks and whitest of whites being tethered in this world of division. The “black and white” hallway you see leads to another painting that represents a world divided over color. The red ora you see is another room that leads to a piece called “Stalemate”. The irony behind “Tethered” is that not only are the twins in this piece tethered, both so are the paintings in a metaphoric sense.
