The creatures in the Invasion Collection are real deep-sea organisms, photographed in the wild. The popular Aliens by Gug have been collected as printed art for years, and lie at the intersection of artistic beauty and scientific discovery. With new species being discovered on each dive, this Ocean Invasion NFT art is the natural extension of my ever-expanding portfolio of weird & wonderful planktonic marine life, many of which have never been seen in the wild; typically only as mangled/dead specimens in deep-sea trawling nets of researchers. Occasionally, the creatures are unclassified and completely unknown to science, making it the closest we'll likely get to an Alien Invasion on Earth.
To create these photographs, in a nutshell, I jump off a boat, in the middle of an ocean, in the middle of the night, over the deep abyss, and drift through the blackness with the current on scuba to see what deep-water planktonic freaks might work their way on up towards the surface depths.
