The title of the series refers to one of the main works of Rinaldo Carnielo: <strong>Tenax Vitae / Tough Life | Hard Life</strong>

The Italian sculptor had a penchant for a realistic and morbid attention to detail, which was ambivalently received in his time. It is said that he could hardly sell any works, as he always gave priority to his own standards. Through photogrammetry digitized sculptures of various tombs from the 19th century - the same era in which Carnielo was active - the hard stone is transferred into the fluidity of the virtual. There, sculptures can be altered, combined and processed with the most diverse technologies, detached from their place-boundness. The focus of the works is the aspect of copy and original - what is truth - what is faith. The collages are thus to be understood as an intermediate step - from the hard living to the liquid dead.
