George Hincapie

George Hincapie is an American former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 1994 and 2012. One of the most well-known names in the cycling industry, George Hincapie defined the term domestique, making a name for himself by serving his teammates and putting their needs above his own. Winner of many races throughout his career but is best known as a "domestique" to his team leaders, chief among them, Lance Armstrong. Hincapie was also a domestique for Alberto Contador in 2007 and for Cadel Evans in 2011, when both men won the Tour de France. Throughout his career Hincapie focused on the cobbled classics of April. He achieved his highest position on the podium with his 2001 victory in Gent–Wevelgem. His 2nd-place finish in the 2005 Paris-Roubaix remains the highest placing in that race by an American. George is also one of the owners of Hincapie Sportswear and exclusive "Le Domestique" Hotel near his home in South Carolina, USA.
