"Commonplaces" is inspired by Stephen Shore's "Uncommon Places". I saw the book shortly after I started studying photography. I tried to shoot in the same way, but the 35mm camera was so agile that it didn't work either in terms of resolution or format. And, of course, I couldn't find a landscape like America in Japan. It wasn't long before I learned that Stephen was shooting in large format and also shooting with a 35mm camera. Stephen brought the feel of a 35mm film to a large format camera, but I'm taking the opposite approach in a way. These were all taken in Tokyo.
