Bearfoot Masters take on the classic painting The Cradle by Berthe Morisot

THE CRADLE. Berthe Morisot. The cub in the cradle is Lydia's own newborn, birth perfectly timed to fill the niche. It was the quietest session so far, with everyone tiptoeing around and whispering, so as not to rouse the whirlwind that is a wet and hungry infant. Lydia took the opportunity to catch a few zzz's as any parent would. She was not the only one peering into the crib with dewey eyes, and all of us went home feeling a little more blessed. P.M.

Bearfoot Masters were originally conceived as images for cards and postcards for museums and art galleries, as comical alternatives for those in the know. Bears, however, big-eyed or otherwise, are not ones for taking a backseat in anything and immediately began revealing their own stories as I drew. Whatever I thought I was doing was immediately hijacked by them, so in the end it was simplest just to follow their lead
