There was once a series of books called "under the old town clock" that are stories about Halifax. Just thinking of what stories that clock could tell if it could talk.
The Town Clock began keeping time for the garrison on October 20, 1803. Over the years it has gone through a few updates and changes but it still looks like it once did.
"On A Halifax Pier" comes from a Stan Rogers song "I'm a broken man on a Halifax Pier, the last of Barretts Privateers."
For years I would take my dog RyLeigh for walks on the Halifax boardwalk. The goal was to try to catch the sunrise, as there is nothing like it in the world.
In December 2020, right in the middle of the Pandemic when everything was going wrong, we lost Ryleigh as well.
That day was the final straw. It broke me.
For the next number of months. I wasn't doing well. I didn't leave the house much, (Pandemic) but listening to Gary Vaynerchuk on podcasts made me realize I needed to do something. I started morning walks again without her.
I started taking morning photos and posted them on Instagram to keep myself accountable. One thing I heard was "Document. Don't create." On A Halifax Pier was born from that.
Each one of the NFT's are a One of One. Just like Ry was.
Not all images are from the waterfront. It's where the idea came from.
