When you think of the history in Halifax, this is what I think of. On this morning I came around the corner to see a movie being shot on the waterfront. They brought it back to what it once looked like down here..
You can only imagine the stories and the commerce that came through the area over the years.
It was great to see.
"On A Halifax Pier" comes from a Stan Rogers song "I'm a broken man on a Halifax Pier, the last of Barretts Privateers."
For years I would take my dog RyLeigh for walks on the Halifax boardwalk. The goal was to try to catch the sunrise, as there is nothing like it in the world.
In December 2020, right in the middle of the Pandemic when everything was going wrong, we lost Ryleigh as well.
That day was the final straw. It broke me.
For the next number of months. I wasn't doing well. I didn't leave the house much, (Pandemic) but listening to Gary Vaynerchuk on podcasts made me realize I needed to do something. I started morning walks again without her.
I started taking morning photos and posted them on Instagram to keep myself accountable. One thing I heard was "Document. Don't create." On A Halifax Pier was born from that.
Each one of the NFT's are a One of One. Just like Ry was.
Not all images are from the waterfront. It's where the idea came from.
