#The Syrian Conflict

Originally, Napoleon at the battle of the pyramids, by Antoine-Jean Gros shows Napoleon I on horseback during the Battle of the Pyramids, gesturing toward the pyramids in the distance while speaking to his officers and soldiers; in the lower right foreground are defeated Mamluk soldiers.

This painting has been re-interpreted to represent the Syrian conflict. It shows the Syrian government (Syria) represented by the Mamluk soldiers at the point of losing the war asking the Russians for help. The Russians agree and deploy their air power, ultimately turning the war in favor of the Syrian government.
