Originally, Napoleon at the battle of the pyramids, by Antoine-Jean Gros shows Napoleon I on horseback during the Battle of the Pyramids, gesturing toward the pyramids in the distance while speaking to his officers and soldiers; in the lower right foreground are defeated Mamluk soldiers.
This painting has been re-interpreted to represent the Syrian conflict. It shows the Syrian government (Syria) represented by the Mamluk soldiers at the point of losing the war asking the Russians for help. The Russians agree and deploy their air power, ultimately turning the war in favor of the Syrian government.
In our Times Change - Conflict now, then collection we've created 12 unique original paintings. Each NFT takes an old masterpiece and re-interprets it to showcase a modern theatre of conflict, war or protest. Subtly highlighting the nuances of that conflict whilst aligning it within the masterpiece. It depicts a what if the modern conflict (now) was to have taken place then paradigm.
