These Shaolin Chi Mantis class photos were taken at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. I taught here from 1992 to 1999. These classes were consistent. I taught in over two dozen other locations during those years also. I taught at Liberty Park all year round. Sometimes we would cancel a class during high winds or a snow storm… but I really loved teaching in this park. Beautiful park. Big huge pine trees, a beautiful pond we held our classes near, and super thick well-maintained grass lawn. It was nice.
During the winter we wore DOUBLE PAIRS of socks and insulated boots. If the snow was too thick there was a concrete stage we could have classes on nearby.
I hung three flags on a tree to represent our Buddhist altar for each class. The center flag was a 12” wide brass medallion with the Original Buddha in the center and Dharma lessons radiating out from the center in Chinese. Since the Shaolin Temple was a BUDDHIST TEMPLE this was the core of our classes and school. Only the students of Shaolin Chi Mantis would receive an official traditional Buddhist Initiation if they chose to. These were awesome ceremonies we held once per year in the park. I went looking for some SHAOLIN KUNG FU INITIATE book links and stumbled on these links below to webpages probably no one is discovering. I created these webpages from 1999 to 2005 and they probably don’t show up in GOOGLE SEARCHES because they’re all the old HTML2.
The students in these photos are Mike Edwards (with glasses), Bill Dufala, Zhen Ming-Mou (my daughter Caitlin), and a few other students whose names I may add later. I’ve spent the last two weeks creating these NFTs for the book EVOLUTION OF A SHAOLIN MONK. I’m really anxious to NOW: upload and MINT these NFTs one by one at OpenSea NFT marketplace. I’m not sure how many copies to mint of each one. I’d like to make them ONE-OF-ONE and have people collect them and resell them at a profit… but I don’t see that happening without an online community and internet popularity that I don’t have right now. Maybe 100 of each and a low price. It’s weird. When I started Shaolin Kung Fu in 1980 my school had over 300 students. Now I struggle to have 3 students. All the Tai Chi FRAUDS and Kung Fu KARATE IDIOTS have given Shaolin Kung Fu a bad name and bad reputation because none of these people were ever teaching Shaolin Kung Fu. Bruce Lee never learned Shaolin Kung Fu. NONE. So not even Bruce Lee has inspired people to take Shaolin Kung Fu despite imitating a Shaolin master in Enter the Dragon* movie. In fact, just the opposite. Bruce was too lazy and bad mannered to even learn BEGINNER LEVEL Shaolin Kung Fu. So he said, “Forget the Shaolin Masters. Just mix together some punches and kicks and create your own street fighting style like I did.”
So now we have MMA MIXED-UP MARTIAL ARTS. The Shaolin Kung Fu masters have died without disciples. I have been teaching Shaolin Kung Fu since 1984 and I don’t have a single disciple. Shaolin Kung Fu dies when I die.

What if I come back as girl in Texas and get raped, forced to have a child, raise the child without the opportunity for an education… There’s no sense in hoping for a better life. This has been a great life. I’ve lived and survived in poverty since 1954. I’ve never made more than $50,000 in one year. I’ve ever had enough money to own a house or buy or new car. I spent 15 years raising my children and homeschooling them without a supportive wife. She gave me room and board but said she would not give me an allowance because she, “…knew I would run away with the kids.” So the people and parents in my lifetime have held me down in slavery and isolation. No one wanted me to be successful more than just survive or at best, be self-sufficient so they wouldn’t have to worry about me.
Despite my financial, marital and family handicaps I am proud of the life I’ve lived. Perhaps I will experience financial and cultural success before I die. Maybe.

The book, EVOLUTION OF A SHAOLIN MONK, was written by Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang (Richard Del Connor) "Spirit Wolf of Truth" while hospitalized at Martin Luther King Hospital in 2018. As a homeless Shaolin Monk since 2012 he decided it was time to become "materialistic" and "evolve" into modern society and spend more time MARKETING and PUBLISHING his books. His expectations of a family empire to run his music publishing company, Shaolin Music, was wrong. His marriage to his booking agent Michelle McCarty was based upon her running his independent record company, Shaolin Records. She divorced herself from that enterprise several years into their marriage. His plans for his son and daughter to work for his Kung Fu schools, Shaolin Chi Mantis and Buddha Kung Fu, were also behind him now. Richard moved back to Los Angeles in 2013 to produce and star in his feature film, Kung Fu Cowboy. Hospitalized for 6 months he realized he needed to evolve again and create an online Shaolin school.

These are what I’m leaving behind. I’m evolving into something new for the rest of my life. I’m 68. I’ve gone through 3 surgeries, chemotherapy and cobalt radiation treatment. I should live a little longer. I am anxious for a NEW PHASE of my life. No kids. No wife. No parents. Just my cat.

Like a man in the Amazon rainforest, I have improved the life of a few savages, but not the world. I am unknown to most of the world.
I’m evolving into a spiritual being THAT WON’T RETURN TO THIS PLANET. I’ve done enough. I’ve done plenty. What if I come back as girl in Texas and get raped, forced to have a child, raise the child without the opportunity for an education… There’s no sense in hoping for a better life. This has been a great life. I’ve lived and survived in poverty since 1954. I’ve never made more than $50,000 in one year. I’ve ever had enough money to own a house or buy or new car. I spent 15 years raising my children and homeschooling them without a supportive wife. She gave me room and board but said she would not give me an allowance because she, “…knew I would run away with the kids.” So the people and parents in my lifetime have held me down in slavery and isolation. No one wanted me to be successful more than just survive or at best, be self-sufficient so they wouldn’t have to worry about me.
Despite my financial, marital and family handicaps I am proud of the life I’ve lived. Perhaps I will experience financial and cultural success before I die. Maybe.

The book, EVOLUTION OF A SHAOLIN MONK, was written by Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang (Richard Del Connor) "Spirit Wolf of Truth" while hospitalized at Martin Luther King Hospital in 2018. As a homeless Shaolin Monk since 2012 he decided it was time to become "materialistic" and "evolve" into modern society and spend more time MARKETING and PUBLISHING his books. His expectations of a family empire to run his music publishing company, Shaolin Music, was wrong. His marriage to his booking agent Michelle McCarty was based upon her running his independent record company, Shaolin Records. She divorced herself from that enterprise several years into their marriage. His plans for his son and daughter to work for his Kung Fu schools, Shaolin Chi Mantis and Buddha Kung Fu, were also behind him now. Richard moved back to Los Angeles in 2013 to produce and star in his feature film, Kung Fu Cowboy. Hospitalized for 6 months he realized he needed to evolve again and create an online Shaolin school.
