@NFTSerena Davidson Artist Statement: As a grief work teacher I knew I needed to go deep into some scary and fear based territory during 2020 to release what was stagnant and what was boiling. In much of my ceremonial grief tending there are others to share the experience with. This time that was out of the question. Without thinking too much about it - I organically used my own phone to take photos of what I looked like as I silently screamed my heartache and confusion, anger and shock. Doing this was actually a very tangible way to reflect my own state back to myself with a bit more clarity. Somehow that magic of it helped me feel more seen... even though it was simply by me in a new perspective.
These self portraits were never meant to be for anyone but myself. Now I'm sharing them as an expression and extension of my desire to share tools for healing from the depth of my own treasure chest. As I see over and over in the artist community of web3 - the power of transparency and vulnerability can transform a moment from cold and distant to warm and welcoming.
Through my friendships with Edify Productions and Baits E CherryHill this collaboration came together rather organically. As I spoke about the project and presented pieces of the concept, we naturally added form and function to this NFT collaboration with our own specialties.
