Gallu demons dragged unfortunate victims to the underworld. They were among the seven devils (or "descendants of hell") of Babylonian theology, who could be appeased by sacrificing a lamb on their altars.

They are so-called chimeras, depicted as half-man, half-beast, similar to the Sphinx. Some people think that they were created as a gene experiment by Ancient Astronauts and really existed.
