From the tiny moon of Jupiter, Dia is the first Alien to land.

ALIENS - pt.1 collection image

‘ALIENS - pt.1’ is a series of ten 1/1 photographs celebrating B&W photography.

The story behind these images was loosely based on the film ’Under The Skin’, where Scarlett Johansson plays an alien that embodies a woman’s body, however each of the most basic of human functions is completely heterogenic to her.

I wanted to capture that subtlety of being overtly out of place whilst still trying to remain inconspicuous, with each facial micro-position contributing to the ominous look of each photo. I kept the images B&W to strip away any distractions and make the viewer focus solely on the facial idiosyncrasies. The more time spent with these images, the more you see elements of their original personalities captured. I like how that narrative evolves each time you come back to these works.

THE SERIES: ‘ALIENS - pt.2’ is now also live, you can find that collection here: https://opensea.io/collection/moal-aliens2
