In October, 2021, the scammers behind AvarestDAO defrauded would-be investors with what was essentially a copycat of the legitimate Olympus Protocol (one of my favorite investments out there).

I followed along as AvarestDAO shilled their presale, even considering looking into it until they published their horribly-written info page, full of typos and vague promises.

Still, many investors took part. The moment their presale ended, however, the AvarestDAO discord, Twitter account, and website disappeared!

Thankfully, members of the Olympus discord and others began tracking down the scammers—and then came some pathetic and clearly terrified messages from the scammers, promising to return the stolen funds.

I snagged a copy of the Avarest logo on a webpage I had yet to close and made this NFT.

I don’t want to make any money off the misfortune of anyone who invested time and money into this scam (even if they get it back) so if someone buys this NFT, I will convert all revenue into OHM and stake it (adding to my growing tranche of sOHM, which I’m very fond of!).

Then, at least a year from then, probably more, I will unstake and donate the original price of this NFT plus all profits to Mary’s Meals, a charity with an A+ rating which provides over 2 million poor, hungry children with food in schools (leading to better education results and healthy kids).
