'Altered Art Reality' is the genesis edition NFT created by METAWALLS Berlin in collaboration with iconic artist and performer Jim Avignon. This limited edition of 625 NFT's has been produced especially for our genesis Airdrop.

The original artwork by Jim Avingon is an acrylic painting on paper (160cm x 200cm), created in Berlin during 2021. It was then digitally scanned and formatted by METAWALLS. “Altered Art Reality” celebrates the launch and the birth of the METAWALLS platform - a portal into a new, expanded art dimension.

The work is inspired by Bicycle Day, an annual tribute observed in psychedelic communities in celebration of the discovery of LSD. The tribute refers to Albert Hofmann’s dramatic bike ride home after he accidentally ingested 250 micrograms of the substance at the Sandoz Laboratories in 1943.

Born in 1968, Jim Avignon is an extraordinary figure working in the German art scene today. He is a painter, a musician, DJ, performer and curator. Avignon is a prolific and fast painter. His pictures are a mash-up of cartoon-like figures embedded in an expressive pictorial composition. Avignon’s style uses a minimum of lines to trigger maximum expression. His works can be found in collections and museums worldwide, lining the walls of clubs and venues, and out on the city streets. Using the acceleration of society as a theme, his ironic and humorous works are frequently seen to be disrupting the paradigms of social inequality.
