The Tokyo Tower is a 333-meter tall landmark in Tokyo, colored in warm yellow-red (international orange) and white. It was built in 1958 in Shiba Park in Minato Ward, and its official name is the Nihon Dempa Tower. At the time of its construction, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, was the world's tallest freestanding steel tower at the time at 312 meters, but the Tokyo Tower surpassed it to become the world's tallest tower. It celebrated its 60th anniversary in December 2018. Today, the tower continues to be a symbol of Tokyo and is highly popular among tourists from Japan and abroad.
