"Bicycle Story, as told through a Lifetime Movie"

This piece was inspired by a short story written by a child.

A friend, who ran a 'children's writing workshop', contacted me to participate in an exhibition. Local artists were asked to make art to go along with stories written by the kids in the workshop. She asked me to read the story by an eleven year old girl named Posie. None of the artists had chosen her story, saying it was too dark. My friend thought I may like it, and she was right. I liked the story and I liked Posie, a cute little girl, a skinny string bean with her blond pulled back in a pony-tail, who introduced herself with a big innocent smile.

Her story was about the brutal murder of a woman by her boyfriend while on a bicycle ride. The young author said she inspired by watching movies with mother on the Lifetime Channel, in which husbands and boyfriends were often the villains and murderers. Posie was funny.
