古くから日本に伝わる妖怪であり、地獄の従事者。漢字の”鬼”の原義は『死者の魂』という意味で、もともとは姿の見えないもの、この世ならざるものであることを意味する。のちに人に災いをもたらすものとして描かれ、仏教や陰陽思想と習合し、地獄の住人となった。 ONI is an ancient Japanese yokai, or demon, who is the inhabitants of hell.The original meaning of the Chinese character for '鬼oni' is 'soul of the dead,' which originally meant something invisible or unworldly.
