CLEOPRAH is a hybrid of Cleopatra and Oprah Winfrey, and the next installment of Stelcart's Hybrid Heroine collection. As ever, this piece is a feminist celebration of two influential women, each one surrounded by symbolic imagery, which illustrates parts of her life and story. This is the first Hybrid Heroine piece to be a collaboration, and Stelcart's first time collaborating with a 3D artist.
With the additional life given to the piece, JZƬYΣ has added to the dimensions, but also the concept. It now speaks of the battle and comparisons between 2D and 3D art, and between IRL art and NFT art.
We see a 2D piece hung on a wall, then become shuttled beyond the surface into the submersive three-dimensional space where the figures (Cleoprah, Horus/Tom Cruise, Julius Caesar, Barcak Obama, Marc Antony, and Stedman Graham) are alive with depth and detail. We are then brought back out of the submersion to see the art again hanging in its traditional form. Which do you feel affiliated with? Which sparks a feeling in you?
