Cascade Dreamscape

From a moment of bliss atop Mount Daniel in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Washington.

I had seen photos from this vantage point dating back almost a decade and it always captivated my mind. I had always wanted to stand atop my namesake peak to gaze down upon the Lynch Glacier as it feeds into the aesthetic Peasoup Lake.

In August 2022, everything aligned perfectly and I was able to embark upon this grueling trek atop one of the most breath taking vantage points in the entire United States.

After packing up my campsite from the summit bivy on Mount Daniel, I took one last glimpse out over Peasoup Lake and was in awe at the way that the light was casting upon the scene. Sunlight was illuminating the lake creating a shaded V shape upon the azure waters. Shadows crept slowly across the surface of the Lynch Glacier creating soft designs upon this ancient frozen entity. Wildfire smoke created a soft haze out over the sea of layers which made the scene feel more ethereal and dreamy.

For myself, this moment was by far one of the most meaningful and serene moments of my life. Myself, Daniel, standing alone atop Mount Daniel. It doesn't get much better than that in my opinion.

Cascade Dreamscape collection image

A collection of 30 1/1 images captured amongst the rugged mountains of the North Cascades in Washington, by Daniel Fowler. Over 200 miles traveled on foot, over 100,000 feet of elevation gain climbed, almost four years of persevering in the mountains, and well over 150,000 photographs taken...welcome to Cascade Dreamscape.

Throughout my life, I dreamt of going on adventurous expeditions to the farthest reaches of our planet, especially the remote mountains here in the United States. Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of being able to document these fragile environments and have seen first hand just how quickly they are changing due to climate change. These photographs are just brief moments frozen in time that help document the beautiful glaciated landscapes of the North Cascades.
