Cascade Dreamscape

From a golden sunrise above Hidden Lake in the North Cascades.

These conditions weren't something that I had planned on experiencing before the summer of 2022 where the alpine lakes were frozen late into the summer months, but wildflowers were blooming in full force along the few thawed meadows above the landscape.

This sunrise was one that wasn't typical for me because I was accompanied by a group of five guys who had shared the fire lookout directly behind where I took this photograph. Their company made this adventure far more enjoyable because I was able to interact with like-minded individuals as opposed to being left alone with my own thoughts. I called the guys over from where they were sitting because I saw how amazing the light was as it crested over the ridge separating Boston Peak and El Dorado Peak (off screen to the left). They quickly scampered over the boulders atop the summit and were left speechless with me.

This was definitely a moment I'll never forget for it was a rare moment were I was able to enjoy the company of others whilst in the North Cascades.

Cascade Dreamscape collection image

A collection of 30 1/1 images captured amongst the rugged mountains of the North Cascades in Washington, by Daniel Fowler. Over 200 miles traveled on foot, over 100,000 feet of elevation gain climbed, almost four years of persevering in the mountains, and well over 150,000 photographs taken...welcome to Cascade Dreamscape.

Throughout my life, I dreamt of going on adventurous expeditions to the farthest reaches of our planet, especially the remote mountains here in the United States. Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of being able to document these fragile environments and have seen first hand just how quickly they are changing due to climate change. These photographs are just brief moments frozen in time that help document the beautiful glaciated landscapes of the North Cascades.
