Everyone knows what a motto is (a term borrowed from Italian to mean a word or legend attached to a heraldic figure). It is generally a thought expressing a slogan such as “liberty equality fraternity”. The Motto portrait, versus auto-portrait (self portrait), combines an appropriate text with the portrait of a person. The text is written in mirror on the silk, the audience can better see and follow the evolution of the motto portrait. Just like in jazz, this process created by Pascale allows improvisation within a framework defined in advance; and this thanks to the work previously carried out on the silk to control (or lack of control) the blending of colors when writing the words. These may be sentences said by the person (portraited) or texts which define them by other people marked by them. Here there is it about love wishes creating the (French) kiss under water.
