I recently built this set at my studio in a very rushed 8 hours. I acquired three old doors for free on the morning I started the set, and also procured the amazing antique dental chair on the same day. Very excited to do more work in this set. This is a photographic self portrait.
In one year, I've lost 120 pounds (and counting). This may seem crazy, but one of the biggest rewards from my hard work was being able to fit into the astronaut suit that I've been photographing other people in since 2017. Being able to take self portraits in a character that I feel was an actual extension of me spiritually is just so emotionally rewarding.
The other nice thing about this is being able to carry the astronaut suit and camera around with me while I drive around, and being able to take photos wherever I please spur of the moment without having to rely on other people to show up/work out a schedule with them.
This is a collection of self portraits for my ongoing "Lonely Astronaut Series", a collection of photographs (no computer generation/photoshop/AI) of a real person (me) in real places.
Fun fact: the remote shutter is always in the thumb part of my right glove.
