The first crackling sounds you hear are from a dried seedpod I found walking along the beach. I took the seedpod home and recorded my fingers strumming the brittle and dry texture on the outside of the seedpod, this created the sound I then sampled and used. When I listen to this record I hear the raw creativity I was tapped into when creating this album. Lots of all nighters and long days finding vintage gear that added to the “color” of the sonic palette I was producing. I recorded this in my first home studio I built centered around my Mackie 24 Channel Mixing board and 8 track ADAT Super VHS recorders, lots of collaboration and vocal recording with my now lovely wife Rahimah AKA Red Flower Lake, this was one of our first musical collaborations. There are some “mistakes” that I did not/could not fix, as each song was an analog mix done in real time that I had to choose my best mix performance from, and each mix had some fun experiments that went well, and some that did not, but this adds to the risk and vulnerability I had to breakthrough to allow this music to come forth. Now when I listen and hear those parts I like them because they remind me of how magical everything was in that time.

Abel Okugawa specializes in creating cinematic sound experiences through NFTs, Film & Interactive Projects.
Minting through my own contract brings back that original sense of adventure, inspiration, and creative empowerment, amplified by newfound connection and community. The opportunity to create what I see in my dreams, and to have these creations sustain a livelihood, is a dream come true in itself.
I'm finally realizing my lifelong goal of a studio where I can create, express my ideas, and collaborate. That studio is a playground for my family, friends, artists, and community, as well as collectors. I’ve always appreciated the support I’ve gotten for my music and my art, and now my focus is the direct connection between all these aspects of creativity and life. I'm inviting others to access the deepest work I create, which lives closest to my heart, to share in that experience, and to be a part of the source, because art is a treasure that can never be held by one person alone
