Double exposure on film

Edition 1/1

Neon Life by Louis Dazy collection image

40 photos, 40 neons, 40 memories, 40 double exposures on film, 4 years of photography,

I started this series in 2015 and went on until 2019, this series it is an ode to nostalgia, a longing for a home that no longer exists or has never existed. A cinematic image of nostalgia is a double exposure, or a superimposition of two images—of home and abroad, of past and present, of dream and everyday life. The moment we try to force it into a single image, it breaks the frame or burns the surface.

These photos are made using the technique of double exposure on film, shooting two times on the same part of the film, often not knowing how it will come out.

"The imperative of a contemporary nostalgic: to be homesick and to be sick of being at home—occasionally at the same time."
