053_八幡大菩薩 700年代から1800年代中盤まで"神仏習合"により神道から仏教に入り仏となっていたもの。弓矢の守護神であり武を司る仏とされ、戦国時代の武士に慕われた。明治時代の神仏分離により仏教から神道に戻った。

053_HACHIMAN DAIBOSATSU They became Buddhas from the 700s to the mid-1800s, when Shinto converted to Buddhism through the "Shinto-Buddhist syncretism". They were patron deities of bows and arrows, and as gods of war, they were adored by warriors of the Warring States period. The Shinto religion reverted from Buddhism to Shintoism due to the Shinto/Buddhist Separation Order of the Meiji Era.
