I was inspired by past images of Thai women who often dressed in dark, opaque clothing, and their preference of chewing betel nut. The piece chooses to use dark red tones close to black. The pattern comes from the scattered nature of betel nut spittle on the floor. The design reduces the details into geometric shapes, round and square, spreading throughout and at both the head and foot of the fabric.
