Each panel is 16x47 inches making a scene of dancing figures and cranes. The three panels consist of silks-repurposed, hand-dyed, hand and machine stitched. I find waiting a very hard thing to do and get impatient, but with needle and thread weaving its way through silk I am transported to another world of calm, soft, silky fibers and peaceful blue tones.
I have been creating with fibers for over 40 years in a variety of ways: fashion design, fiber sculptures, fabric art wall hangings and artquilts. I have been fortunate to have my work exhibited in the United States as well as internationally including Pakistan, Africa and Russia and published in Quilting Arts magazine, America: From the Heart and the Art in American Embassy’s collections. I am passionate about creating textile “paintings” using new and re-purposed materials, applying dyes, paints, pen and pencil, thread and manipulating surfaces to explore and express my ideas.
