George Floyd art from Black Lives Matter. Hollywood JUne 2020 ON FILM

BLACK LIVES MATTER 2020 collection image

Springing from the depths of necessity, Black Lives Matter as a movement took over Los Angeles city for a brief time in May/June 2020. At this moment, I was living on Melrose avenue, and almost overnight, an explosion of creativity and art on every corner had replaced the desolate boarded retail stores and devastation after the riots, on May 30th 2020.

My neighbourhood had changed over night. There was protests everyday on my street and people were expressing their deep seated anger over inequality in the united states. It was infectious, you felt compelled to join and learn and be apart of something, particularly after being in doors from March-May 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.

I took my Contax film camera with beautiful saturated Black and white roll and walked the city for days. Watching the change.

Most of these pieces of art were gone within a week.

A moment in time.

Black Lives Matters.

RIP George Floyd.
