About this piece:
We learn about ourselves during times of emotional turbulence. This painting depicts the other side of a very emotional breakup I went through.
After living with my ex for a few years, I realized how much our relationship changed me and my perceptions of reality. As many of us have experienced, our standards for ourselves and our tolerance of what becomes acceptable to us becomes warped by love.
It was only after the fact that I realized how she affected me. At first, I blamed her, but then I shifted the blame to myself.
