Before I landed on anything resembling "my style" that I became recognized for, I was experimenting for decades with new and interesting ways to portray the human form.

This pastel piece which was completed in 2001 already is showing remnants of what would be seen in my stylized figurative works for years to come.

At this point, I had been a professional caricature artist for ten years. I worked at private events drawing big heads and little bodies. Catching a likeness and morphing perspective for a living drilled into me certain ways of seeing.

I felt an urge to escape that world, which I eventually did with my fine art career. I believe this to be one of the earlier examples of me flipping that ratio around focusing more on little heads and big bodies with no likeness to worry about.

Unravelled Reality by Jay Alders collection image

This collection explores psychological nuances, psychedelic perceptions, and the paradoxical emotional journey of the human experience.

These are some of the visions that I bring to life so that they can expand into the Universe. This work has been served to me from somewhere outside of myself and is an intentional deviation from my other work.

This collection serves as a home to the unusual, and trippy parts of my mind.
