The image several worlds removed from reality beginning its life as a street art or stacked ad posters like layers of paint. Two images are combined through AI, then refined using image editing software. The resulting image has a sense of its original self, but has evolved into a new other worldly image. The colors used cannot be represented on paper and for that reason they are best expressed as NFTs in their native digital format.

'Or Gee" was one of three images selected for the New York Foundation for The Arts (NYFA) NFT Award Program.

Artist Statement
As an early pioneer of digital art, I explore the processes of transformation and perception. To start my process, I source images and colors from real life. When I’m attracted by light, composition, and color either in urban environments or nature, I photograph it. Then the image is transformed using digital and AI tools through the magic of the computer. The transformation process is fun, surprising, and empowering and results in an image characterized by vibrant, whimsical color, dynamic compositions, and abstraction.

My practice is strongly influenced by the color palette of Pop Art, the science of perception, and the considerations of utopian vs. dystopian realities. I love the vibrant colors of Pop Art and pull color palettes those artists and from my own, then optimize them. The optimized palette is expressed in the digital drawing, one of the two AI input images.

I find the science of perception fascinating and consider how viewing my “unfamiliar” art is a challenge for the brain to interpret. Does this “perceptual workout” process train us to interpret other foreign visual situations? (Scientists don’t have all the answers on the complexities of our brain’s processing of visual data.)

My work is rooted in the present moment as I work digitally native and wonder about our future – whether it will be utopian or dystopian. We are predominantly fed dystopian images and messages about an antagonistic relationship with technology and computers. I’m here to evangelize the opposite. We control technology and have the power to utilize it to create positive outcomes. Technology is just a tool – we decide how it can best serve us. How will we navigate between our future worlds IRL and in the metaverse? I vote for utopia!

Bio
Triandafellos is a visual artist exploring the processes of transformation and perception and technology using digital and AI tools. She has created art for the digital facade of the NASDAQ building, Hilton Times Square, a mural for a private Brooklyn residence, and an 80 ft mural for the American Museum of Natural History. Additionally, her work's been exhibited in MvVo Ad Art Show, Frieze NYC, Superfine Art Fair and The Other Art Fair. Her work can be found in the permanent collection of The College of New Jersey, MoMA Library, and private collections. Triandafellos earned an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from NYU's Gallatin School.

Installation instructions
For informal display in private settings, the art could be displayed on high resolution television screen or monitor. In a public display setting, the art should be displayed on a screen designed for digital display of NFT, E.G. MetaSill. The larger the size the better.

Migration allowances
A version of the archive file should be upgraded to the latest version of Photoshop at least every two years. From that file, a version of the web and exhibition file should be created. The web file should be created by exporting a PNG of under 10MB from the archive file. The exhibition file should be created by exporting the highest resolution PNG file from the archive file.

Key information about the work
