Several details stand out to me from this photo. The first is how the cracks in the pavement almost mirror the bare branches of the tree. The light on inside, the distant billboard and highway, and the mountain peak backdrop create a sense of barren desert that contrasts so much with the turf lawn, high-rise casinos on the other side of the border down the road.

"Where the West Begins!"
WENDOVER is Oliver Dahl's second published photographic exploration of a small town, a sequel to the series debut, ARCO. The book (and accompanying NFT collection) features a combination of digital and analog photography, paired with stories and history from this town in the Great Salt Lake Desert. From gambling and speed racing to scuba diving and bombing ranges, Wendover is much more than just a sleepy city by the salt flats.
This photo series is the result of 5 different dedicated trips throughout the last year in each of the four seasons. It explores the effects of connection and separation that result from borders and distance, while crafting an honest, raw, and liminal depiction of the gambling town "oasis" of Wendover.
Initial collectors will be sent signed copies of the physical book upon release.
