Dictations (title to be determined) The following was dictated as texts to the phone number of my late wife over the last year wandering the city. I do not know who has her number now but have received no texts back. They are the record of a mind in motion in a time of self-exile. It is not writing though it does look like it. The process that generated it is uncertain. The frequent errors of the voice recognition and the freak capitalizations remain, along with all artfacts of the process of transferring the texts to make a single file. Some entries are a few words long. Others span long stretches of time walking or biking from place to place. They are in chronological order, and no other. They include references to books I was reading or scenes I passed through. Sudden endings of sentences were caused by exceeding the character limit of the app. The images are intended as a counterweight, atmospheric and forensic, produced similarly while walking, also by a phone, a record like Hansel's crumbs of things that simply stood out and deserved remembering. There is no correlation between the 69 pages and the 69 images. They were not taken at the same time, during the same walks, or in the same places. But the separate GIFs are meant to run in parallel to produce random pairings, more stirring than either alone. They run like dual engines. They lift the plane. Their natural state is motion, though they can be paused, and each image or page studied and zoomed in on. Both are a simple record of a stretch of time.

This work was exhibited in the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art NFT Show, which took place from February 1 through April 30, 2022. The show features artworks from the 174 artists that were exhibited in mowna's first year. Current international artists working in a wide range of artistic mediums. High quality artists and diverse artwork. Innovative new technologies, experimenting in the art and museum space, and paying artists for their work. While the future of NFTs is unclear, mowna acknowledges the NFT space as a new opportunity for art.
