I grew up in the Midwest and have spent time living on both the East and west coast. I spend my time in record stores and thrift shops looking for old electronics to bring back to life with an art project or concept. My art is usually an expression of a frustration, often revolving around technology.
Fingers Crossed examines the multiple meanings we blindly accept behind the common gesture. Each piece in the Fingers Crossed Collection aims to explore a different intention behind the symbol.
Fingers Crossed is a symbol of multitudes. For some, it signals hope and prosperity, but for others, a tool of deceit and deception. A sign that reveals our culture's self-inflicted irony. Fingers Crossed is a gesture in which the true meaning is decided only by the hand that holds them. Original Digi-Log Composition by Theodore Lee Jones. Completed in 2021 using a high resolution scan of my drawn hands augmented live via a series of analog video mixers and Hi8 Camcorder/CRT TV feedback. Digitally processed in 4k and transposed to GIF format.
This work was exhibited in the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art NFT Show, which took place from February 1 through April 30, 2022. The show features artworks from the 174 artists that were exhibited in mowna's first year. Current international artists working in a wide range of artistic mediums. High quality artists and diverse artwork. Innovative new technologies, experimenting in the art and museum space, and paying artists for their work. While the future of NFTs is unclear, mowna acknowledges the NFT space as a new opportunity for art. The show has been added to mowna's collection, which is available for viewing online at https://www.mowna.org.
The winner of this auction will receive a 1/1 limited edition NFT, minted by the museum. 70% of the sale will pay the artist of the NFT for their work, with the remaining 30% paying for the creation of the museum platform. The winner will also unlock a free one month membership code for the museum.
